Winter calls for cozy DIY projects! For inspiration, I searched the archives until my Prairie Dress/Cottage Style project from the fall caught my eye! I would love to make another dress like that, but it’s winter… That means that all I want to wear are sweatshirts and pajamas. Could I somehow make a prairie or cottage style dress that was both easy to sew AND warm and comfy like a nightgown? I had to try! 😉 Come along for the adventure!
I started out with a pattern I had made before. I liked the simple construction and peasant-style elastic neck and sleeves. I chose to make dress A on the left, but with a maxi length, long sleeves, and no elastic at the waist. I had just the right sized piece of flannel in my stash! (Love those nightgown vibes!)

After reviewing the pattern, I began cutting, pinning, and sewing! (I show all these steps in the video coming up!)

Some time later, my dress/nightgown had taken shape!

I added a belt made from remnants to give the dress some shape!

You can see the whole adventure here! 😉
I took my dress out for a hike on a surprisingly pleasant evening!

The flannel was super comfy, while the maxi length allowed me to wear a tank top, leggings, and boots underneath! Winter warmth for the win!
YAY!

So what do you think? Is it a dress, a nightgown, or both? 😉 Stay tuned for more winter inspiration and projects coming your way! Stay crafty, Everyone!
