Sometimes you just HAVE to make a project happen! I had a vintage pattern, nearly vintage fabric, some stress to burn off, and an occasion coming up- my birthday! 🙂 It was high time to get sewing!

You may recognize the vintage pattern from this post where I made a dress from a bed sheet! (You can find the Etsy pattern here!) Since this was my second time make the pattern, I felt confident enough to use some special fabric… Yes, the fabric has a story! My mom let me pick out this vibrant print when I was a kid! The intended kid’s dress didn’t happen, but the fabric was available just as I was running out after the pandemic! (Thanks, Mom!!!) So… this dress was meant to be! 🙂

Here are those rulers I wished I’d had for pattern alteration! 😉

Of course, I had to add some of my fave vintage accessories!

The sewing took me a while… and, of course, had its accompanying share of snags. I am pretty happy with the results, though, and intend to wear the dress a lot this summer! I even made a YouTube video showing the process!

Yay for birthday dresses! (Ok, day-after-birthday-dresses!) I sure enjoyed seeing this dress come to life, and I hope you all enjoy sharing the experience with me! Stay crafty, Everyone!

  • So VERY CUTE!! Fun story about the fabric being for you originally…and now you finally got a “big girl” dress! Of course, YOU had to make it. But you did a great job!! Super tutorial!
PS. Maybe your Mom can “spring” for a pair of matching red heels or cute sandals?! IE: Birthday into extra innings! (smile)

    • 😀 Yeh, great story! Actually, my mom DID get me red shoes last birthday! 😉 I just didn’t wear them bc I was walking! Next photoshoot!!
