The Easiest DIY Dress?

The Easiest DIY Dress?

Sometimes I just want an easy sewing project! (You with me?!) I don’t want to do anything tricky or time consuming, but I still want wearable results! This laziness/pickiness has inspired today’s project- the Easiest DIY Dress! Now, is this really the world’s easiest dress you can sew? Well, maybe not, but it is the most straightforward process I’ve used to make a dress that I actually want to wear! 🙂 Join me for the sewing adventure and see for yourself!

I started out with this beautiful rainbow plaid fabric and a very (very!) basic design sketch!

I then cut out my fabric, sewed the shoulder and side seams, and tried the dress on. I decided to take in the side seams a bit before finishing the neck, side slits, cap sleeves, and hem.

And with that… the dress was basically done! (Wow!) I did make a wide belt that could add definition to the waist if I wanted.

I decided to wear my new dress on a plant shopping trip! I was so inspired by the gorgeous Lone Pine Gardens that we visited! (You can find them here!) Big thanks to my fabulous friend Sara for going on the adventure and filming for me! 🙂

You can watch the whole project here on our YouTube channel! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed our project today! Stay crafty, Everyone! 🙂
